ITV and ESPN have made their picks for the live FA Cup second round fixtures, despite 11 first round games still to be resolved in next week’s replays.

However, with three relatively obvious matches to be shown live, both obviously felt  there was no need to wait for the replays.

AFC Totton v Bristol Rovers is the headline fixture of the round chosen by ITV1 on Sunday 4th December at lunchtime, while ESPN have gone with Fleetwood v Yeovil on the Friday night, and Sutton United v Notts County on the Sunday evening.

ESPN have announced their two live FA Cup First Round replay fixtures to be televised next week.

On Tuesday 22nd November, the rematch of the thrilling 3-3 draw between Southern League Stourbridge and League Two strugglers Plymouth Argyle will be shown, and the following night Bath City host Dagenham & Redbridge. Both matches will kick off at the earlier-than-usual time of 7.15pm.

No highlights programme for the replays is scheduled for ITV1, with the channel busy covering matchday 5 of the Champions League next week.

The televised matches in the first round of this year’s FA Cup have been announced, and are headlined by League One side Charlton Athletic’s trip to Conference North outfit FC Halifax Town.That game will be shown on ITV1 on Sunday 13th November at 12.30pm.

With the England friendly against Spain taking place the evening before, bizarrely highlights of that match will be shown just a matter of hours after the live broadcast of the meaningless money-spinner at the expense  of Saturday’s FA Cup highlights.

That means ITV1 will have an extended 85-minute build-up for their live match on Sunday, where all of the previous days goals will be shown.

Meanwhile, ESPN have two matches, Newport County v Shrewsbury Town on the Saturday lunchtime, and Morecambe v Sheffield Wednesday on the Sunday at 3.15pm.

S4C will continue to show Welsh-language coverage of matches in the early rounds, and they will televise the first live game of this year’s competition on the Friday evening when Wrexham travel to Cambridge United.
